Department of Microbiology at Dr. B R Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences, Mohali organised an educational visit of MBBS Phase II students (MBBS Batch 2021) to CENTRAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE KASAULI on 11th May 2023, to align their teaching and learning of Immunology and also to commemorate International Day of Immunology that falls on 29th April of every year. Students were accompanied by Director Principal Dr. Bhavneet Bharti and faculty from Department of Microbiology & Community Medicine Upon reaching CRI, Kasauli, students and teachers visited Animal House where they learnt about animals used, breeding practices, weaning, stock, preparation of antisera, DIwP vaccine manufacturing (components, preparation, administration, stages of vaccine development), serotyping techniques and AHU (Air handling unit). They also learnt various new terminologies like CDL. CGMP/GMP, DCGI, HVAC. IP and EUA in relation to vaccine manufacturing. After this students were given some leisure time to visit the Heritage market of Kasauli where they tasted different local cuisines before beginning the journey back. A Pre and Post test pertaining to the topic was also conducted following which the students were instructed to write down their Reflections. The feedback received from students made the trip a success.
